keyboard: RAZER Lycosa RZ03-00180100 Black 104 Normal Keys 7 Function Keys USB Standard Gaming Keyboard
mouse: Logitech G5 2-Tone 7 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Laser 2000 dpi Mouse

good headphones with a mic: name ideas?
cheap but good speakers: name ideas?
wich windows vista?

-cpu fan: ASUS Triton78 or... 79 <they dont have. any other ideas?>
-MSI K9A2 Platinum <they dont have. any betetr names?>
-AMD 9850 Quad Core Black Editition <they fail again.......>
-2x 4850 GPU ATI <dont freaking have.......>
-2gig chip XMS2 RAM x2 ;;total of 4gigs [they have but... argh. meh>
-COOLER MASTER MYSTIQUE CM 690 RC-690-KKN1-GP BLACK ATX TOWER CASE <they have...>
-2x( Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM) <they just have 320gbs...>
-dvd burner: Samsung WriteMaster SH-S202N <ofcourse. they dont have it. yay.>
-etc etc etc.. the stuff that misses

Next step is to put check if all peices can be bought from this site rofl. well its the best prices of a quebec retaler...plus its clsoe to where ill live and they also can build ur comp for a small added fee and have good service.
--> http://sohodiffusion.com/ <--

so ill send them an email to see if they can grab me the peices they dont have and i want. itd be noice!

AND THAN, last step will be to ask you guys what wattage of a p-supply i should get with this build.

The comp is for multitasking on 2 screens with no lag and sick graphics. 1 lcd(already have) and 1 wide screen lcd

Hi there,

You're definitely off to a good start, but I would make a few changes:

Motherboard
Processor
RAM
Hard Drives
CPU Heatsink/Fan
DVD Burner
Video Card
PSU

What do you think? Everything else can be the same (i.e. case, monitor)

Cheers

Hi Shuh,

Two hard drives is always a good idea. That being said, you could use two of the ones I suggested, or add a second 250GB onto the build no problems. Or you can install the OS to a separate partition, that also makes for easy reformats.

I did this (Vista into separate partition) at first, but that's because I was used to XP - and I was forever making it crash! But I have not managed to make Vista crash just yet. Maybe I'm getting better, or Microsoft is, or both... :)

I don't understand some of your comments - what's laptop keyboard ftl (not mine)? What are you updating?

I learnt reasonably fast that a well laid-out post is easy for everybody to read and understand. So far, I have no complaints reading yours. The ones I really hate are the ones where the user does not know proper punctuation, spelling, and paragraphing. I really hate one long sentence as the complete post, rambling about many different points and then ending in "plz hlp me plz plz" or something like that... :)

Okay, so the differences explained (from memory):

I changed the motherboard to a cheaper variant, but still a quality one that will give you a similar level of performance. Also a good choice is the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L. If you need a higher-specced motherboard for whatever reason, let me know and I'll try and work it in.

Changing the motherboard to a cheaper one allowed me more play with the processor - this updated version is from the Yorkfield series, and has a faster clock speed, higher cache, and is built on a smaller die (runs cooler).

The Western Digital 640GB is an excellent performer, as it has only 2 platters for faster speed.

Anything else?

hi troy. the reason for the "laptop keyboard ftl" is that im using a friend macbook nd its effin frustrating to type wth bcause it skeeps ALOT of letters =P

my frend was wondering why that cpu. since he linked me 1 10$ cheaper with high performances and also from intel

he says its a intel quad core Q6700. but i cant find the link lolz

with axes and case and monitor im at 1850$ so theres still 150 extra $$ (ima pa keyboard and mouse on my own)
what do you think we could enhance?

The Q6700 is from the older series quad cores, I would keep looking at the Yorkfields.

If you have some more to splurge with, I would go for this - order quickly as it says only a few left...

Yeah it should be all fine, 2x 2GB would have been preferable, but it should still work good!

Let us know how it goes.

lil update alright. theyll give me 2x2gig rams. but not the g-skill kit. ocz reaper 2x2gig. im not sure but they were like "takes 1 month to get the g-skill and osz reaper is better" and i was like "yeah but 2x2 is better than 1x4" and they were "yes it is" and than they told me, after i ask them, that theyll give me 2x2. so im guessig itll be 2x2 ocz reaper.. hopefully

and ima have to wait that they get the p-supply and g-card also... they ordered them both

Visiontek is also a good company to go with for video card and they also offer a lifetime warranty (however its not that easy to get an RMA from them than if you have to go to EVGA).

For the PSU, OCZ makes good power supply however if you want the best then wait for the PC Power & Cooling.

Hello, to end this topic, Id first like to tank everuyone for the help and also, as a question to Troy

after further research (i should have done that BEFORE buying the pieces but i didn't have access to a computer that much) seems that soho.
the site. didnt have the... HIS HD4870 512mb .... =<
they had the SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON HD 4870 512MB *309$* --has directx10 and all the cool stuff
and I got the ASUS EAH4870 512mb *304$* --not sure it has all the cool hd stuff...and the company(that assembled the computer) DIDN'T even give me my leather mouse pad >.>
and MOSTLY.. if i would have accepted the offer to get a Visiontek hd4870 512mb for also *304$* i WOULD HAVE gotten directx10 ...and all of other useful things...

the asus's one has directx 9 on its disk... so its ..you know... not as great... maybe not a directx 10 generation card. not that it wont handle directx10 but...

thats the research i did. also if the soho site had HIS hd4870 512mb.. i would have gotten directx10..all the cool stuff. bestest... and a sweet screwdriver with 2 pins, a light and a level!! xD

[bleep] ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if only i would have had a computer to do the research instead of having to hop on ppls laptop for 10mins...

oh well...

Still TY for the help guys.. but i hate myself...

EDIT: Meh... doesnt matter. I dont play high graphic video games lol... why should I care? I photoshop and play an mmo (and mmo's are far away from needing life-like stuff.. its not even programmed for it) ... so i dont hate myself anymore xD
