Im getting a little frustated because more than half of the websites i try to go to i cant access because of my "virus". I am on my brothers laptop right now just so i can make this post. I dont know much at all about computers but want to get mine fixed up and clean. I cant acces your website on my computer so thats why i havent tried the other guides to fix it. I see some people talking about completely wiping their hardrive and redownloading it or something? It sounds like a last resort and i was wondering what all will i loose from my computer if i do that. I don't know where to get started. :)

Hello stu7

Welcome to G2Go. :)
=====================
Do you have cd or a flash drive so you can transfer some files to the infected computer?
If so do the following:

Posted ImageClick here to download HJTInstall.exe
  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Transfer this to the infected computer.
===========================
Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running Combofix >ComboFix Instructions
We now suggest that you install the Windows Recovery Console.
The Windows recovery console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode that allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished all of that, along with a new HijackThis log.

(Note:If the Recovery Console fails to install then do not proceed rather alert me and post back here we will continue)

You have to save it not run it.
When you click on the Combofix link you need to choose Save.
Then also download the correct setup files from Microsoft to install the Recovery Console.
Then drag the Setup file from Microsoft onto Combofix to start it.

Your computer already has it installed so there is no need for it.
========================================
Copy Combofix from your cd or flash drive and place it on your desktop to do the following.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/cant-browse-web-to-fix-computer-t209144.html&pid=1313381#entry1313381

Collect::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\4b7c8504.sys
Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet003\Services\4b7c8504]

Save this as CFScript.txt

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

**Note**

When CF finishes running, the ComboFix log will open along with a message box--do not be alarmed. With the above script, ComboFix will capture files to submit for analysis.
  • Ensure you are connected to the internet and click OK on the message box.
  • A browser will open.
  • Simply follow the instructions to copy/paste/send the requested file.
