Dear smarter than the average bear, First I would like to thankyou for being such kind people in helping out with other people's tough computer problems. I'm sure you save many people a good deal of money on new equipment, when you provide them with preventive measures to their computer troubles. I myself, am a first time user of this website, and if you can cure my computer's ailments I will be endebted to you. I have tried many things to cure the aging beast but nothing seems to get rid of the core contaminent. It's like my computer has a raging case of herpes and I can only put lotion on the sores. No matter how long it goes without problems, the same problems always eventual pop back up. Such as, (about:blank, Ebates Mo Money Maker, Viewpoint, and some other things that I really don't know about but seem to be harming the structural integrity of my computer.) So here is a HijackThis log that i did today (April 30, 2005), if you have any suggestions for software, info or preventive measures PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!!

,thank you for your time and consideration

Internet Explorer won't go to comcast.net so I can't check my email and My computer is running really slow. I have tried webroot, and it almost finishes but always freezes my computer. Adaware leaves a lot out and CWShredder didn't help me at all. Hopefully this will work. thanx for your time. :tazz:

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Teat] C:\Documents and Settings\bt\Application Data\bost.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\Documents and Settings\bt\Application Data\bost.exe

After that, Reboot.

After you reboot, post back here with how things are running and a fresh HiJackThis log.

The comcast web page still won't come up and my IE has been downloading from other sites while in the process of going to this site and others. When my computer went into safe mode the file that was specified was not present.

1. Open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B604D412-7DC1-4648-A2AB-428FE89045F2} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F529E411-50F1-760E-8F9F-04A2D8D668C2} - (no file)

How do you mean it don't go to comcast.com do you mean it does not come up when you open Internet explorer? If so open Internet explorer click tools then options you should be able to set your homepage there set it to http://www.comcast.com/

I did what you said and this is what my hijackthis log looks like.
Anytime I try to go to Comcast.net a white screen shows up and it will load a white screen while the speakers make a continual clicking noise. and at the bottom of my screen it says that it is going to a different website.

User helped in chat --- still complaining about a redirection when startpage is loading.

Download rkfiles.zip
UNZIP the contents to a permanent folder

Reboot in SAFE MODE !! Important !!
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Doubleclick rkfiles.bat
It will scan for a while, so please be patient.
Wait till the doswindow closes and reboot back to normal mode.

Post the contents of C:\log.txt in your next reply.
