CPanel backup restore...

I run a website/forum... today I installed a phpBB mod to the forum (after creating a full site backup & SQL backup through CPanel), and everything went smoothly. I followed the instructions to the T...

Well when I went back to the forum index, the forum was gone. Only the logo & links to Private messages & Admin CP remained.

SOO... feeling fortunate that I had the forsight to make a backup, I went to CPanel and uploaded the tar file... and CPanel decompressed it into a new directory but didn't fix anything! I've never had to restore a backup, and assumed it would overwrite everything on the server. Instead, I have over 100mb of stuff I don't even know what to do with... <_<

What am I missing? I've never had to do this, and I'm sure I followed proceedure... I assumed the full backup would overwrite all the files on the site. Instead it added over 150mb to the server and fixed nothing. I am at a total loss here...

Sorry, but I never had to reload backups. However i have alerted some people on this site who may know more about the topic. Also what did u want to say here....

I followed the instructions to the T...

I've taken the extreme measure (to my mind) of deleting EVERYTHING in my public_html directory, in the hopes that the backup, uploaded once more, will take hold. First, I am uploading the mySQL backup I also made yesterday...

Instead of uploading the tar via FTP, try using the restore function built into cPanel.
