I have a DSL connection, but my computer goes offline about every five minutes--yet when I plug my laptop in, it stays connected and seems to work fine. Also, when I check the connection status on my computer it always says it is "connected", even when it goes offline. I have to reset my modem and wait a while to get reconnected.

I have gone through all the preliminary steps that you've listed to prepare to post a hijack-this log, and my machine seems to be clean of any viruses. I am running Windows XP Pro, and it is updated.

I'm not sure that corrupted files is my problem, but with my limited knowledge I've pretty much ruled out anything else.

Also, I thought I would mention that my computer stays online a lot longer if I stay within one website. (I don't know if that info helps to pinpoint the problem, but thought I would mention it)

I am running the Windows Firewall that comes with Windows XP Pro. I ran the Hoster, and also did the Panda Active Scan. I scanned my entire computer (including over 243,000 files) and the result was "No Viruses Have Been Found!" there was no option to save the log on that scan,
