Before i begin i would like to thank you guys fr taking time out of your personal lives to help me with my computer issues. Please keep in mind that this is my first post on this site so some things might be out of order but i am doing my best to follow the forum rules.

I am running XP Home Edition and lately i have been getting ad's popping up as well as full screen programs such as games and movies are randomly minimized or unfull-screen'd. I did a scan with Ad-Aware 2007 Pro and found a Malware called "win32 Trojan downloader" but that seems to have been removed and has not shown up again even after a reboot and another scan. However a scan with Malwarebytes showed me having "Adware.Mirar" as well as "Trogan.Agent" and these files could not be removed.

Below is my Malwarebytes log as well as my HJT log thank you again for taking the time to look at this and please let me know if i need to edit my post at all i will be checking these forums as regularly as i can.

The steps that I am about to suggest involve modifying the registry. Modfying the registry can be dangerous so we will make a backup of the registry first.
Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot perform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.

Backing Up Your Registry
  • Go Here and download ERUNT
(ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
  • Install ERUNT by following the prompts
(use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
  • Start ERUNT
(either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
  • Choose a location for the backup
(the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
  • Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
  • Press OK
  • Press YES to create the folder.

For detailed instruction on how to back-up registry via ERUNT, please visit HERE

I haven't seen any antivirus in your logs.. Antivirus is extremely crucial as without it you will get re-infected again! Do you have any? If you don't, please install ONLY ONE of these free and excellent antivirus below:

I also haven't seen any third-party firewall in your logs.. Do you have any? If you don't, please install ONLY ONE of these free and excellent firewall below:
After you install the third party firewall, please disable your Windows firewall. Please go to My Computer >> Control Panel >> Windows Firewall and choose Off (not recommended) option. Then please click Apply and Ok.

Please post these logs in your next reply.. Post each log in separate post..

1. OTMoveIt2
2. RSIT (after you succesfully install ONE antivirus and ONE firewall)

Hello, please go to C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder and please find vtmb.ini somewhere inside that folder (maybe inside another folder which resides inside the MovedFiles folder)..

Then please copy/paste it back to C:\WINDOWS folder.. Just do that first and then tell me about it..

Good... Now lets do this..

Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
  • Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts. A log will appear (JavaRa.log), please post the contents of this log on the forum.
  • Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
  • Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer.

NEXT

Please run the Kaspersky Online Scanner

In Microsoft Windows Vista, you must open the Web browser using the Run as Administrator command. From the Desktop right click the icon to open the browser and choose Run as Administrator.

  • Click on SCAN NOW
  • Click Accept.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded locate the Scan Settings and have it scan My Computer.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it finish.

When the scan is done, in the Scan is complete window, any infection is displayed.
There is no option to clean/disinfect, however, we need to analyze the information on the report.

To obtain the report:
Click on: Save Report As
  • Next, in the Save as prompt, Save in area, select: Desktop.
  • In the File name area use KScan, or something similar.
  • In Save as type: click the drop arrow and select: Text file [*.txt]
  • Then, click: Save
Posted Image

Copy and paste the Kaspersky Online Scanner Report in your next reply.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

It seems i have run into a bit of trouble. I downloaded the JRE file and installed Sun™ Download Manager, through this program i attempted to download the JRE file. It continued to start downloading than stop and say "Reconnecting to server" until finally "Download failed, Unable to verify." I disabled the firewall thinking it might be blocking the connection and still it did not work. I did however manage to get you the java log.

Great!.. Your log looks clean to my eyes... Now for some cleanup..
  • Make sure you have an Internet Connection.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Click on the CleanUp! button
  • A list of tool components used in the Cleanup of malware will be downloaded.
  • If your Firewall or Real Time protection attempts to block OtMoveit2 to reach the Internet, please allow the application to do so.
  • Click Yes to begin the Cleanup process and remove these components, including this application.
  • You will be asked to reboot the machine to finish the Cleanup process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Let's clean your Restore Points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous Restore Points which are likely to be infected)
To create a new Restore Point.
  • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK. This will flush your old System Restore.
