I have had this problem for a long time and I just stumbled on its location. I can not load System Mechanic antivirus and firewall because it says I already have one. I never installed either. I am probing around today and found both listed in my Security center virus scanner listing. Only problem is the VirusRanger says out of date and the Mcafee I can't do anything with. I want to delete both programs off my computer but the "update and Turn off" buttons are grayed out so I can't do anything but close the program. Please help me delete these files.

EDIT: After some research, VirusRanger is a rogue program and should be removed immediately. I strongly suggest that you follow all the instructions in this link, and then post a log for perusal by one of our experts in the malware forum.

Note that any further discussion about malware is disallowed in these forums. If you are still experiencing problems after you have been certified clean by one of our experts, then please return to this thread and we will do some further work.

Until then, work through that list and get a log going in the malware forum.

Cheers

Troy
