Im not to clued up in the technical talk so il try my best to explain my problem and hope i can get some help...
2days ago i got a flash drive from some one from a university, said they downloaded a project off the net at varsity but the flash drive diddn't want to work on their laptop.
i insert the flash and the pc restarts as soon as i open up a folder, i do a scan and try again, then every time i open a folder on the flash it duplicates the name of that folder followed by "fichier"
Their was 1 folder that wasn't on the flash before (not sure of the full name but it was a hidden folder and it started with "MIS"), i try to delete it but it kept coming back, so i copy all the files from the flash to my pc to try and format the flash and thats when "my documents" folder got infected.
in the thumbnail view there are no folder names but i can go into the folders and if i change the view the names re appear in that specific view. i also can't go into my folder options, can't do searches or run from the start menu and i can't do a system restore. keeps saying system restore has been turned off by group policy. to turn on system restore, contact your domain admin...
I had sum1 come and have a look, i have 2 profiles and he located the "mis" folder on my other profile and deleted it (was in the C:\WINDOWS\inf folder) he said thats all he could do and his not sure if the infection has spread or if it's completely removed....
