Hi, this is my first time on this forum, and before writing this thread i made sure to try all the advice given to get rid of potential malware/viruses. For the past week I noticed that one of my laptops cannot open websites, as well as get updates for windows defender, malwarebytes, and avast. Strangely enough, I can open google and make search queries, but the links do not open. Not being able to update my security software is the most troubling part, and i'm not sure if this is from a virus or not. The laptop runs windows vista.

i don't think it's a network issue because my other laptop (running windows xp) can view all websites and get updates, as well as my macbook pro (which is what i am using to type this post).
