Hello,

I have a Maxtor D740X-6L Harddrive formatted for one drive letter (I guess one harddrive? not two 20 Gigs) How do I go about getting my computer to register/ read it when I have it plugged in?

Thanks,
K

Is this drive the only hard drive in the system or do you boot from another drive & have the maxtor slaved?

Was the maxtor partitioned & formatted on this system or was it already set up before you connected it?

I boot from another drive. and the Maxtor is a Slave. I cannot see it in the BIOS when I startup the computer. It was already partitioned & formatted before I connected it.

TIA

OK, tell me how you have the jumpers positioned on the maxtor, whether the boot drive is set to master or CS.
Also, which connector on the ribbon cable is the maxtor on?
