Alright here is my problem and the steps i have tried to take to fix it.

I cannot display my volume control on my taskbar. I wend into sound and audio devices
and checked the box to display it and i got this message:

Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume
Control Program has not been installed. to install it use add/remove programs
in Control Panel.

i do not find this in the control panel.

i ran a search for sndvol32

found sndvol32.EXE-383480B7 with a interenet explorer icon on the paper icon before it in foldder C:\WINDoWS\Prefetch

I tried to right click and open but it does not do anything even when i try to open it in the exsisting folder. so i went
to the prefetch folder and tried to open it with no success.

I had even tried using the command prompt but i just dont understand that .

I still have sound on my laptop i just want my icon back in my taskbar. i bought this from a friend and i have none of the
reinstall or other cds .

Can someone plz help me.

My system is Microsoft Windows xp professional version 2002 Service Pack 2

Can someone plz help me get my icon back.

My sound drivers seemed to be updated by Service Pack 3. Have you gone through the Troubleshooting section for your audio codec? Good Luck.
