I installed successfully, my new Epson 3170 Perfection Scanner. It worked.
Then I installed Windows XP to replace my Win98. The Scanner still worked.

Windows XP did not honor my midi interface card's MPU-401 driver and this corrupted a system file. I had to uninstall Windows XP and put Win98 back on.

Since then, my new scanner software with Win98 will not recognize the TWAIN driver, so I cannot scan. I downloaded the official TWAIN driver from Epson.com, installed, no luck.

Any similar experiences?

Thanks.

Hmmm... sounds like you've been busy <_<

When you installed XP did you do an upgrade, or a clean install? Same when going back to 98, did you uninstall XP, or install from scratch?

Your scanner communicates via the USB port, it's very strange that it would affect your sound card driver. (I assume the MPU-401 interface is on a sound card).

If possible, I'd do a format and fresh install of WindowsXP. Download the latest XP drivers for each of these devices from the mfg's website, and install.
