So anyways now im trying to finish the installing it gets errors of not being able to access the so i cant copy the files from the cd.
It also says my cd is corrupt,
This is an upgrade disc but it was already installing on a 98 os so i could do a full reformat.

Welcome to geeks to go.

Do you know the specs on the 98 unit? How much ram and how much hard drive space? XP requires about 512mb ram (and that will be slow). Also a minimum of 20 gb of hard drive.

What is the manufacturer, so we can research it.

If the comp meets the minimum specs and 98 is messed up, usually all you have to do is start with the XP cd and since it is an upgrade, the install will ask for a previous OS cd. All you have to do is put the cd in so the install recognises the disk as an upgrade.

Here are a couple links to check out.
