Memory configuration in DX 6120 MT

Hi all,

i have a hardware question.
i have a HP dx6120MT machine with Four memory slots, are as follows:

dimm1 (white)
dimm2 (black)

i have two 256 memory in white/white sockets. what if connected additional 512 memory or 1 GB memory in dimm2 i.e black slots. but in one side only. i did not attached anything in dimm4 i.e second black slot. will it work. if yes then what will be the total capacity

It will work but then your RAM will no longer run in dual channel mode, possibly rendering your performance.

Your total would be 2Gs.

Your best best is to remove the 512 sticks and get matching 1GB sticks to replace them with and put them in the white slots.
