Norton found bloodhound.w32.ep and deleted. AVG found something as well which I deleted. I have run both Ad-Aware and Spybot as well as CWShredder and TDS-3. I have uninstalled SP2 and IE (several times and reinstalled it).

The problem is when I click a link or choose to open a link in a new window, the window pops up but the link never opens, it just hangs there.

I can't see anything wrong in your log.

Go to Start -> Run
Then type or copy&paste regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Click OK when finished
If that single change does not resolve the problem, repeat the process by running regsrv32 with the following dll files.
Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll

If this does not fix it, download IEFix from http://windowsxp.mvps.org/iefix.htm

Let me know,
