A friend of mine's computer had what looked like regular adware. Standard pop ups, redirects the whole nine, except that it would not allow his zonealarm to perform an antivirus update. My only thought was to reinstall zonealarm. After doing so, the adware is apparently gone since the popups have stopped. Unfortunately, his system restore, control panel, task manager, and c drive are missing. in addition to that, a 'virus alert' appears in the lower right hand tray near the clock. When starting the computer, error messages stating that documents, documents and settings and things of the like cannot be found. Strangely enough, everything, except for system restore, is available. I figured the best thing to do is just reinstall xp home on the computer and try to keep his files. When I start the process, the system says it can't find an available drive. What should I do?
