Well I can't tell from the picture what type of connection the laptop has.... some laptops use an edgeconnector adaptor to connect to the hard drive but it could also be the the laptop uses sata instead of ide ( which is what the hard drive you have is )

Does the hard drive fit in the caddy without sticking above the sides of the caddy? There are 2 heights on laptop drives. If you are trying to put a 12.5 mm (.49 inch) high drive into a 9.5 mm (.37 inch)high caddy it will not work. They actually can be up to 19 mm but the 2 above are the most common.

Otherwise the only thing new in laptop drives is the SATA type drives.

Heres a SATA drive connectors

And heres a older ATA( IDE) drive with connectors

Your pictures don't show us what we need to look at to determine what the problem is. See if any of the above is the problem.

OK, now i know what your looking for. What you need is similar to these dell adapters that are used to connect the HD to the laptop connector, and they are different from each other. They are called interposer boards.

What you may need it the IDE cable pictures in the 5th picture down on this webpage.

You might try this ebay shop to see if he might have the correct part for you.

Thats all i can find on this.

Well, there is cheaper places to get that if thats what you need.

But, yes, that is probably what you are looking for. You just need to make sure there is room inside the laptop for the cable. Otherwise i was thinking it is like the dell laptop connectors.
