Hi all. I'm here because I'm having a major problem with my sound. Simply put there is no sound that plays on my computer. My speakers are in good condition, they work when they are plugged into an outlet. The mute button is not on and volume is turned up. Whenever I open iTunes it says, "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling quicktime and itunes, separately. No dice. My computer didn't come with a driver CD for my sound, so I ran the Belarc Advisor.

Using my deductive reasoning, I've determined that this: http://downloadcente.....nal& lang=eng is the driver I need.

Problem- Here is what happens when I try to install:

1. Open download, download begins to extract files to C:\Program Files\Intel Desktop Board Audio Driver

2. Whether at 99% or 100% completion, extraction stops and the installer displays the error message, "The system cannot find the file specified."

3. SoundMAX installer opens. I recieve the error message: "Error: Placing Bitmap"

4. I click "Next," agree to the EULA, and the software begins to install.

5. My personal favorite problem comes up: The installer asks me to INSERT A CD. What? "Please insert disk 1 that contains the files Sys/Cleanup.exe"

this is extremely frustrating as I need to have properly working sound for my job. I don't know what else to do, so all help is appreciated.

For Audio problems: Open QuickTime Player and go to 'Edit' -> 'Preferences' -> 'QuickTime Preferences' -> 'Audio' -- Here you will see a Device is needed that will play your sound. Select 'Audio Playback and Recording Devices'. I have Realtek AC'97 as my device. I had to reinstall it to fix my problem. If you are having an Audio problem it may be due to having no device or an improper device.

For Video problems: Open QuickTime Player and go to 'Edit' -> 'Preferences' -> 'QuickTime Preferences' -> 'File Types' -- check here to see if the file format of your problem video files is selected.

So I still have this problem.... I need to know what driver I need to install, but I don't know how to tell. When I looked in the quicktime preferences there was no device listed. Someone enlighten me?
