Decided to do a clean install on my PC and whilst updating files, my PC got hijacked by the above mentioned trojan. I was alerted by my AV software (EZ Antivirus) and followed the instructions to remove the infections. I also ran the programs in accordance with your guidelines, but the problem still exists.

I have a "Search theWeb" popup on my toolbar, and cannot access the internet by clicking on the IE icon. I can only access this site by clicking on a link via an email. My wallpaper and display properties have also been hijacked; I only have the Settings and Screensaver tabs now. I also have a BSOD with the following Security warning :

A fatal error in IE has occured at 0028:C0011E36 in VXD VMM (01) + 00010E36. Error was caused by Trojan_Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c

* System can not function in normal mode. Please check your security settings.
* Scan your PC with any available antivirus/ spyware remover program to fix the problem.

After running the recommended software, I ran HijackThis and here is the log:

I was half way through running Windows update when it happened (WinXP SP2) and browsing randomly. Not sure if you can help or whether another clean install is my only recourse of action. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :tazz:
