HD monitor Help

Hi i just bought a Hannspree hd monitor with a 1440X900 native resolution and it's hooked up by HDMI. i just can't get it to fill the whole screen. when i go to personalize to adjust the resolution that doesnt help. Also when i go to use the buttons on the monitor to stretch it out its set to other things and wont let me scroll over it to change it. i need help on how to do this thanks.
