Problems with Java

I like playing games, especially at Pogo.com, but I cannot get the games to play. It displays as a problem with Java installation. When I try to see if Java is installed properly, the test freezes up my computer. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Start by going to add/ remove programs. Uninstall all versions of java that are listed.

Then go to http://java.com/ and install the latest version.
