well. . . still the same. i've also discovered that all of my microsoft management console stuff is inaccessible or nonexistent. i tried to defrag the other day and got this: "MMC cannot open the file C:\windows\system32\dfrg.msc. This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC."

if i try to reinstall windows, what will happen?

AND. . . i downloaded firefox and am so unbelievably glad i did. :tazz:

Reboot.

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Download and install EasyCleaner:
http://personal.inet...rts/ecleane.htm

After installing it check under Settings > Registry tab if the backup
option is checked and if the directory it points to exists.
This should be true by default, but check anyway.

Then click OK and click Registry
Then click Search. When it is done select all the items per color,
(most, if not all should be green) and click Remove.

Reboot when you are done and let us know how it goes.
