I reinstalled XP on my friend's Dell. That went fine. The monitor settings wouldn't change. Went the usual way, properties, settings then the bar wouldn't slide to "see more" so I went to the drivers tab (like the help suggested) and like a dummy I selected "auto" and the screen went black. Now I can't see anything to change it back. I know the monitor is ok because it show windows loading and I can get into the setup. Now how do I get that thing back to where it was???

Restart in Safe Mode, and reset it back.
Then, you need to download, and install video card driver.
