xp won't boot from cd

on switch on computer starts to boot - gets as far as xp logo then blank screen [nothing else]

tried booting from cd - it gets to "to boot from cd press any key" it then ignores my pressing any key

the bios is set for cd drive no 1 priority

i tried disabling the hdd in the bios boot record but the results are just the same

any ideas please

more info please...is this a laptop or tower..make and model...
have you tried booting into safe mode...

tried the f8 method - it ignores that. is there another way?

it's a tower heinz 57

The keyboard could of been disabled, sometimes windows choose to disable the USB keyboards when doing stuff like this.

Are you useing a USB plug in keyboard?

try a PS/2 keyboard...

what was the solution... :)
when you post back with what worked ...it can save someone else with a similar problem
from having to ask a question...it also helps the helpers from having to go thru it all over again...

i used an ps2 keyboard

usb must've been disabled temporarily
