vista service pack update 1 compressed my screen

After downloading Windows Vista service pack update KB936330 everything on my screen has shrunk. Whereas the icons on my desktop used to span top to bottom, there is now a 3" gap at the bottom of my screen. It's like everything on my screen has shrunk 25%. I have tried adjusting the screen resolution but this does not help. Can anyone suggest how I can return back to my original settings.
