Symptoms:

*My desktop has been replaced with a blue screen with some error message written on it.
* A flashing yellow " ! " icon appears on the taskbar with the message "System Alert: Exploit Detected." I click on the icon and it takes me to some falsified windows webpage filled with different spyware removal programs.
* All the tabs from display setting have disappeared except for 'Screen Saver' and 'Settings'

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

You need to do a registry fix to clear it up.
Download the following file and unzip it to your desktop. Then doubleclick it and grant permission to merge the registry entries.

You are running HijackThis from its zipped archive; please create a new folder for it and unzip the program into it. I.E C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe It is very important you do this before anything else!
Do not scan with HijackThis in safemode unless asked to do so!

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.qfind.net/
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.qfind.net/search.php?qq=%s
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply . . .

I didn't see where I could make a logfile from Panda, but it didn't detect any virus anyway. Do I still need a logfile? Also, HouseCall didn't find any virus either. After I restarted my computer, however, my desktop is now all black. I just wanted to share that new symptom in case it means anything.
