I have read several posts about this and still have a couple of questions. I have a gateway, I got the error about the hard drive failure but was not able to make the recovery disk in time. I have installed a new hard drive, used the system disk that came with it to put vista back on and downloaded the bios from gateway. The error will not clear is this because I was not able to make a recovery disk and if so is there any place I can download the missing files?

Thanks for any help

You need to be more descriptive. What error are you getting?

Also, a bios reload would not be required. Bios updates are only done to repair errors in the bios. Functions that are missing and needed by an update. If the bios update does not work correctly when you install it, your motherboard becomes a paper weight.
