windows xp search is missing from start menu

when i go to start my search funcition is missing. please help this dummy

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Right click anywhere on the Taskbar and select "Properties"

Now, click on the Start Menu tab

From there, click on the "customize" button of the Start Menu that is checked.

Scroll down and make sure the "Search" option is checked.

When you right clicked on the TaskBar, did you make sure to "Unlock" the Taskbar and Toolbar?
