I hope this is the proper forum to post this topic in, if not please let me know. I've searched through all the related topics I could find.
If I missed a related post please advise.

Here's my problem. I can't get IE to connect to the internet, and other apps that use windows won't work either, such as WMA file downloads
or anything windows related. Messengers won't connect either. Yahoo, MSN, etc.

I'm on a borrowed wi-fi connection and have no problem using Mozilla Firefox to connect to the internet.
I can download files and load videos other than WMA files

So far this is what I've tried (many times and failed to get a connection)

Shut down anti-virus, anti- spyware, and firewall.

Uninstalled Internet Explorer, & reinstalled

Tried trouble shooting the connection wizard (several times)

Done a system restore. (few times)

Just now tried to download and install MS .Net 3.5, and failed to get a connection.

I'm sure this is a simple fix for someone who is not a tech dunce like myself.

Any, help is greatly appreciated.

Mack
