Hi trying to burn an .iso file but when i double click on it, nero loads but an error comes up saying "Sorry, this is not a valid Nero disc image file"..

Any thoughts as to what is wrong or why it isn't an Nero disc image file?

This is like phoning up a garage and saying the car won't start.
Without knowing what this ISO file is or where its come from, nobody's going to know what to suggest.
Is it a disk you ripped previously or have you downloaded it from somewhere? What is it?

its windows vista and i downloaded it...

I had to run an application which i guess compressed all the iso's into one file. The readme text said that once you ran that it should be able to burn.
