The mayhem began when an email attachment was opened. I got notifications that the thing was quarantined, but I have a lot of viruses on the computer now. I ran spysweeper and blasted some stuff, was able to get admistrator rights back and get into anti-virus software and quarantine a whole group of viruses. After the reboot I am still getting alerts from the firewall and the anti-virus scan can't find anything. They all seem to have "trojan" in the name. My computer is trying to send virus laden emails and the firewall is blocking themI have read the guides and requirements for posting, and below is my HijackThis scan and an uninstall list.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:

• Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  
  
  
• Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Andrew, thank you again for the reply. I just got back from dinner and my father, who owns the computer, got a tech-guy to come over who is now running combofix and all that fun stuff. I am guessing that he is doing exactly what you were guiding me through. This does not make me any less grateful for your help and your time, but I am no longer on the job. I did not know this was going to happen, and I would not have sought your aid had I had known that someone else was going to be working on fixing the computer. Thank you - Will

P.S. - On a positive note, I have learned a lot from the site and have taken steps to increase security on both my family's computers and my own. I'm going to donate with a smile on my face, though my US dollars don't seem to be keeping their value =P. All the best.

no problem, glad it is being resolved. my next step would have been to run a couple of scans and an online scan which would have perhaps highlighted a few more files to remove and then we would have been done so, all in all, if your man follows this route your machine should be fixed in a few hours
