I have a MacBook running bootcamp/Parallels and I want to be sure my computer doesn't get destroyed due to some stray file. I would like a free virus/malware scanner just for security reasons...

anyone have any ideas?

My recommendation would be to make sure that Windows can't see your Mac partition, then just run antivirus software on the PC side. Since there aren't any Mac viruses running around, Mac antivirus isn't too useful, and there's a much better selection of PC free antivirus software.

The new versions of VMWare Fusion include PC antivirus software (McAfee VirusScan Plus).

geordie_john, I hadn't heard of iAntiVirus before. It appears to only cover Mac-only malware, so as long as you're covering your Windows partition with another anti-virus software, that may be a good addition to your security arsinel. I've just never felt the need as an informed Mac user to run protection software, although it's nice that iAntiVirus is free...
