1. Boot into safemode by tapping F8 while your PC is starting up a menu will come up select safemode.

2. While in safemode open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

O2 - BHO: BolgerObj Class - {302A3240-4805-4a34-97D7-1645A0B08410} - C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
O2 - BHO: ohb - {999A06FF-10EF-4A29-8640-69E99882C26B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nso7.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ap9h4qmo] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ewynjci] c:\windows\system32\sjmkwp.exe
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

3. Delete the files.

C:\WINDOWS\Bolger.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
c:\windows\system32\sjmkwp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

4. Reboot back into normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

I don't think it worked. When I ran Hijack this the log did not contain

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ap9h4qmo] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ewynjci] c:\windows\system32\sjmkwp.exe

Instead it had:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ap9h4qmo] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zoqdyhd] c:\windows\system32\bkybxzn.exe

I went ahead and followed your instructions and deleted those 2 in place of the original 2 along with the rest.

My log now looks like this:

1. Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit.

2. Boot into safemode by tapping F8 while your PC is starting up a menu will come up select safemode.

3. While in safemode double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Place the following lines (complete paths) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox, and click the red button with the white X on it after each. Keep track of any files it tells you either could not be found or could not be deleted, as you'll need those later:

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ap9h4qmo.exe
c:\windows\system32\itiainu.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

For the files that it either couldn't find or couldn't delete, in the killbox again this time, put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot". Copy and paste each file into the file name box, then click the red button with the X after each. It will ask you if you want to reboot each time you click it, answer NO until after you've pasted the last file name, at which time you should answer Yes.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

4. While in safemode open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

5. Reboot back into normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

[bleep] Still no Luck!

When I tried to use KillBox to delete upon reboot, I got this message:

"PendingFileRenameOperation Registry Data has been Removed By External Process!"

And then Nothing.

I went ahead and went through the motions of running HIJACK this in Safe mode, but these entries were not present

After Reboot. low and behold it's still there. Any other suggestions?

I also get this from my Norton Internet Seurity:

"hpiuakupq.exe is attempting to connect to a DNA server"

That file has been there all along, but never shows up in any of the Hijack this scans. Nor am I able to find it in the C:\Windows directory where Norton says it is.

No worries.

I spent most of last night looking through all the other hijacked log and how other Staff members were dealing with the various incarnations.

I am happy to say that my log is clean as a whistle, or at least I think it is... no more Aurora pop ups and no Nail.exe no nothing. I am not sure which protocol actually killed it in the end, but just to be safe I will post my log when i get home latter

Your log is clean :tazz:

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.

Right on. Thank you so much for help.

I never really wanted to know this much about Spyware and its removal but I guess I did not really have a choice in the matter.

I will take care and install Spyware as well your other advice. I have had Ad-aware by itself, but as you pointed out, it was not sufficient.

Again thanx dude, I really appreciate it.
