<_< okay. some things got better, but some are worse. i have a few extra toolsbar options that search that i shouldnt have. i have a bunch of back-up files on the desktop from when i deleted the hijack this files. when i did the housecall virus scan, it came up with a virus in c:\\winnt\system32\dllchace\userlist.exe and it wouldnt let me delete it because it was in use and the task manager wont let me end the process and i cant even get to the folder manually because this is not my computer and all that there is under c:\\ is all users and user. please help me. plus, is it safe to run diablo2 on this computer? whenever using diablo2, winpoet, and yahoo messenger at the same time, the internet always cuts off very often. here is my updated hijack this log. on, and by the way, i seem to have picked up allaboutsearching somehow too, lol

You still have a number of hijackers onboard. Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file following these instuctions. (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Run a free trojan scan here: http://www.moosoft.com

Reboot Run Hijack This again and post back a fresh log.

It's gotten pretty good for the most part. Allaboutsearching still has me though, lol. And about five of the 486 files that Ad-Aware found, it cant remove. Thanks a lot for the help so far. Here's the newest one. And once again I have to ask...does Diablo2 produce any of the adware found on my computer that you might know of?

does Diablo2 produce any of the adware found on my computer that you might know of?

As long as it's a legitimate copy--no.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please move Hijack This to a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible. Else, you'll have backups scattered all over your desktop.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

I accidentaly deleted a HijackThis entry that I dont think I was supposed to, so is there a way I can use one of the back ups or something?

In HJT click on the configuration button (i think) and then there should be a back ups tab.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.microsoft...=ie&ar=iesearch

Please delete this folder
C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Wintools is a nightmarish set of tasks and services which form part of a Trojan horse virus which has been infecting large amounts of users since May 2004. “Wtoolsa has caused an error in Kernel32” is the most common complaint, along with 100% CPU utilization, and extremely sluggish Internet access as a result of these tasks continually communicating, or attempting to communicate, with some server out on the Internet. While we are not sure how users get infected, most users we have come across also used KaZaA or some other file sharing program. This Trojan is not commonly detected by most antivirus software. All the files, except for TB_SETUP, are installed in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\ WinTools folder. This has made many users think that the culprits were the people from WinTools.net but that is absolutely not the case.

A BHO is a Browser Helper Object it is like a plug-in for browsers for more information goto http://www.spywareinfo.com/bhos/. And yes the O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll does relate to Wintools.

Okay, all my big problems have seem to gone away. Finally got the computer to run in safe mode and got rid of that nasty WinTools stuff. Still got connection problems with my modem or ISP, not quite sure, but Im gonna call tomorrow and figure all that out. Im gonna post my final log and see if you have any more suggestions. Thank you all so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it. You are still my number one spot to come to with my problems and if I had the money, I would donate, lol. <_<
