My nephews computer crashed when they first got the computer the cd key was activated he had alot of problems with viruses and everything tried everything and nothing would work decided to format the hard drive and then when i finished it wanted me to reactivate the cd key i tried to reactivate it but it said it had reached a maximum limit i need to get this done quickly because there are important files i need to get to

Sounds like your going to have to call Microsoft to get help with this activation issue. Just call the toll-free number displayed on your screen.
