Hello there. This is my first post.
I am a 3rd year degree student and just got a new laptop as I run my other one into the ground. All my previous assignments and submissions were on old laptop so today I 'sent' all these folders containing said files to a pen drive.
I put pen drive into new laptop, some have transfered but others show the folder name but contains no files. and instead of a folder icon there is a new document icon.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would remove the hard drive from the 'old' laptop and hook it up to the 'new' laptop.

Remove the Hard Drive, go to RadioShack and tell them you need to hook this drive externally up to a new computer. Purchase whatever they offer for external enclosures, or cables offering SATA/IDE to USB.

or

If the 'old' computer still boots, I would then say boot it up, hook a cross over cable inbetween new/old and statically assign the computers an IP in the same subnet... If you don't static, likely Windows will assign a 169.x.x.x address for you which may/maynot work for you.
