Keep getting message "Intel 537EP Modem device is preventing the machine from entering standby"

Is there a fix for this?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It looks as if you have an old dial-up modem in your computer. You have two options:

1: Ask yourself if you need this modem. Many modems are left in older computers where they served for dial-up internet connection. If you have one and you don't need it you can pull it out of the computer.

2: If you need it (they are used for sending faxes from the computers and I know of some old applications that need dial-up to send and receive data) then try to update the driver for the modem. You can uninstall it in device manager and reboot. If you are lucky, the driver will be loaded automatically from windows drivers library. If it doesn't, you will have to search for one in the internet or look for the driver floppy diskette.
