Hi
I initially began having problems when my antivir antivirus started detecting virus/trojans in my temp file repeatedly as follows (I've given two examples):

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/FakeScanner.F [trojan]'
detected in file 'C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Temp\.tt19F.tmp.
Action performed: Delete file

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Dldr.Zlob.Gen [trojan]'
detected in file 'C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Temp\BIT198.tmp.
Action performed: Deny access

My desktop wallpaper also displayed a windows defender notice stating that I had been infected.
After I ran some spyware and removed everything detected this stopped but I began having repeated popups of modem event monitor tellng me to plug in a line.
I also noticed that my msconfig path was deleted and I had to manually reset this.

I have run malwarebtyes which came back clean.
My antivir antivirus found two detections which I quarantined:

The file 'C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP1403\A0168917.exe'
contained a virus or unwanted program 'TR/Dldr.Small.afcl' [trojan]
Action(s) taken:
The file was moved to '4927188c.qua'!

The file 'C:\System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP1403\A0168971.exe'
contained a virus or unwanted program 'TR/Dldr.Small.afcl' [trojan]
Action(s) taken:
The file was moved to '49271893.qua'!

At this point I am not sure if I am still infected.
I am running Windows XP.
I'm not sure if this is related but I've noticed that unless I have my computer powered off for 30sec, windows will not start when restarting or booting up.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.
