I have lost a lot of picture files on my external hard drive. I have no idea how this happened. The recycle bin is empty. Is it possible to recover the photos by doing a system restore? Thanks!

First off, try not to put any more files on your external drive.

As far as lost file recovery there is software available. My personal favorite is Acronis Disk Director available here: http://www.acronis.c...s/diskdirector/

I do not know of any freeware programs available to recover lost data, but it is possible another GeeksToGo member may know of one, I will see if I can find any solutions for you. From my personal experience, Acronis Disk Director has done very well for me, and if you need assistance using it, let me know!

ZAR is a good free 1 also. It will pick up all pictures it can find.
