I'm running windows XP Pro, this is my HijackThis log, I hope you can figure this out because neither my subscription to Symantec Systemworks 2003 or myself have found a solution easier than "reload your machine".... which I did JUST before I got this virus. Please help in any way you can. :tazz: ;)

could you please state the problem more clearly...your hijack log doesn't tell us that...it only tells us what is loading--and nothing in the title thread seems relevent to the log

Ok, the problem is the same as the one in this post:

http://www.geekstogo...showtopic=17352

I tried following some of the directions there but it didn't help, I have deleted the background that it sets up and the program for the background that it sets up which are:

C:\wp.exe
C:\wp.bmp

So, in short I have the conime.exe virus and it's adding 20 unwanted icons to my desktop every three minutes or so if I delete them.. and giving me popups/redirecting my browser. It's also giving me the windows symbol of a small red circle with a white X in the middle of it, and if I click on that I just get another popup. The small red icon also gives me a warning that I have the stealth.hijack trojan.

I've ran Adaware SE and Norton's Systemworks 2003 with full updates and neither has fixed the problem, though Systemworks seems to see it, it just tells me to scan and then does nothing about it.

So, it's a malware problem...I wasn't certain if the malware was cleaned out already or still running. Is that your entire log, or did you do some selective editing (it's very short). If it is, you may have a rootkit infection.

You should be posting this in that forum -- see the link in my signature.
