A big problem, for notebook battery is their life decrease when the laptop is connected to the power supply, and battery is also inserted. This because time can reduce charge of battery (ex. 100% -> 99%) and so also if the power supply is always inserted, sometimes battery was charged. and reduced his total capacity (also with Li-On technology).
I think a good thing for solve this issue was to insert an hardware switch on battery or directly on the laptop for set if able or not the charge circuit. In this mode a people can leave battery always inserted on laptop and can be sure that the current doesn't go trough the battery. Perhaps the battery is always connected and so if there's a black-out the pc haven't problem...
I think this switch can be easily implemented on laptop and it can be very useful.
