I have Acer Laptop - Aspire 5100-3583.
I have problem with all the 3 USB ports. When I connect anything to any of the ports- Flash Drive, or Camera to download photos or even if I connect wireless mouse (which I use with Laptop most of the times), the computer hangs. What can be the reason for it and how do I get rid of the problem?

Hi there Sure
You can refer to your Event Viewer under Administrator Tool in your Control Panel for the error code of your hang.
Try to refer to your System Log or Application Log and look for those Error note inside your Event Viewer.

If possible, please post the error code you encounter here so that we can know what to do for you. You might need a hotfix for your problem depends on what error code you have.

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion.

Under System Log, I found six Error messages - source for all: 'Side byside':

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....link/events.asp.

Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....link/events.asp.

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.163_x-ww_39049d00\MFC80U.DLL. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....link/events.asp.

The above three messages were then repeated exactly in the same order.

Any clues??

Furter, the MS website is of no help: I got the following information:

We're sorry

Hi there,
I am afraid it might be your USB port faulty.
Try update to the latest USB Controller driver and see if problem persist.
Or else it should be a hardware failure.

Thanks

I updated the drivers - it did not help.
There are 3 USB ports. All strted behaving exactly in the same way, at the same time. Could that be the hardware failure?
