heavy video lagg

Ok so today i thought i could replace my radeon 9250 with a x1300 because when i built my pc my card was on backorder, however i did..10 seconds after boot = BSOD...so i said forget that and then i installed my 9250 again..however now it has really bad video lagg, but it worked before fine at 1650X1050.

specs:
amd 2.7ghz 64 live processor (dual core)
4 gigs of cosair xms2 800mhz ram
9250 256mb pci graphics card..

is it worth fixing this or will it be resolved when i get my 3870?
