I used to be able to change the background on my desktop with ease. Now I can't do it at all. Any suggestions? I do not get any error messages.

I go to Control Panel, Display, then choose to Browse. When I try to open a folder to select a picture the folder is empty. But I know there are pictures in there. Why is it blank?

.jpg files

I've always been able to use these. In fact, that is what is on my desktop now. I just want to change the picture.

Hello,
Could the pictures have been deleted by accident?
Have you tried using a restore point from say, a month ago?
Note, there is a difference between system restore and system recovery. Do not do a system recovery.

Look for the option of restoring from an older restore point, about a month ago should work.
UNLESS you have just recovered from mal-ware.
If you need help with the restore please ask.
