Odd behavior and extremely slow bootup

My computer has recently started acting very oddly. Often, it is unable to come out of standby/hibernate. When I restart it, it takes minutes before it gets to the bootup menu. On the last occasion, the lights on the DVD drives were blinking incessantly, even though there was no disc in them. Sometimes, completely cutting the power and trying again can help it actually boot up. When it is running, there is some additional odd behavior. SpySweeper crashes frequently, citing an invalid floating point operation (my screen saver is hitting the same). SpyBot S&D reports attempts to remove keys from the registry, one time something tried to remove TeaTimer.exe from the startup actions, another tried to change a shell setting. I have run multiple spyware and virus checks without success. I have also restored my computer to a month ago (before this started) without success. I'm hoping somebody might be able to give me some suggestions on how to remedy this before I reinstall WinXP and cross my fingers. Thank you in advance.

(Please note, in the log below, I removed the O17 entries, which provided IP information about my employer.)
