I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but I had a good look around and couldn't see anywhere more apt.

I recently had a problem with twext.exe, spybot caught it trying to modify the registry which i of course blocked. After searching around on the net I found a program (don't remember what it was called, I probably got the advice from here tho) which would restart the machine twice and definitely remove it from the system32 folder. I think my logon info was corrupted and I was caught in the logging on, logging off loop.

So new hard drive, clean install. My software should be listed below, (if it's not i'll edit). Is what I have comprehensive enough? Am I missing anything, I do occassionally get problems with script based pop ups. (side note: I can't find a setting in mcafee for blocking popups)

I just want to make sure I don't get infected again, is there anything else that I need?

There's a few things list here....

http://www.geekstogo...;page=How_did_I

but I'm not sure if they would conflict with what I already use

Thanks

It

I would suggest the following

Replace Spybot with Either:
Superantispyware free (update and scan weekly) no resident protection
Malwarebytes Anti Malware (update and scan weekly) no resident protection

Plus

Winpatrol (has a teatimer type functionality but will not remove malware )

Although Spybot has the teatimer function it no longer has the strength to remove some infections

How does that sound

Well those first two are installed (along with adaware2008, haven't used that for years!) and all have completed scanning.

Clean bill of health, which puts my mind at ease.

Thanks again
