i'm getting ready for a trip to Africa next Wed (big deal for a country gal who's never been on an airplane) and we bought a new digital camcorder with a 30 GB harddrive to take with us. We're also taking a laptop to download the video we shoot onto and then to burn to dvd.
Can anyone tell me about how much space on a hard drive we should allow per minute of video shot? These salespeople (all eager to sell me a new laptop which I am buying as well) have tried to tell me all kinds of stuff from "a gig per minute of video" to 100 hours of video on a 150 gig hard drive...
Also any recommendations as to what features would be essential for a laptop for such things? (ie how much ram, how big of a hard drive etc) I'm so tired of pushy salespeople so I came to the ones who know everything!!! :) :) :)
