I need to buy a 1T Sata hard drive for my XP Pro w/SP3, Asus P5Q-E, E4600 pc.
Most of the reviews I've read leave me dry.
Tom's hardware guide did a nice article on 1T drives a while ago.
It goes this way..
Samsung is great but slower than Hitachi's new B model, which is a good all around drive.
WD's 1T Black is more for intensive applications and I'm guessing gaming, than the other two. Also more expensive.
And I can't find the Hitachi B online from any of the normal reputable dealers. Hitachi's web site says it's not available, which I don't understand.
So is the older 3 plate Samsung a better deal or is it worth the extra bucks to go with the newer WD Black.
I plan on mostly using it for SOHO, music and pictures.
Thanks for any help.

For your uses, the Samsung will be just fine. I'd get whatever's the cheapest.
