I have been spending time with emeraldnzl in the Malware forum. We got rid of Antivirus 2009 and got the machine cleaned up but now it appears I have some corrupt files. I am unable to log onto the internet now and as you will read in the link, we do not have the XP pro disks that came with the machine 5 years ago. Any help prior to just a re-format exercise would be appreciated. Thanks.

"Antivirus 2009 cant download Malware" is the post we worked this under should it help you to review it first.

Failed? I would not say that. Looks like we were up against a strong opponent, maybe more than one. With the help of this forum we were able to clean it up, but something got corrupted along the way (we think). If I would have had the time I would have continued to pursue a fix. But, that coupled with the fact that 2 teenage girls have been using this pc for 4 or 5 years, it was time for a fresh start. SO, I don't see it as a failure.
