Do you have a network (ethernet) cable?
If so, connect the laptop to the router using the ethernet cable instead of the wireless connection initially.
I suggest you power everything off first, connect the cable & power the router on. Once the router has finished loading up, turn on the laptop. It should automatically find the router & connect to it without needing to install the CD.

After doing this, check to see if you have an Internet connection.
Next, do the following:
Go to Start & Run and type: cmd (click OK)
At the command prompt, type: ipconfig/all (press enter)
Look for the ethernet adapter in the list & let me know what the settings are, i.e the IP Address, the default gateway address, etc
Also let me know if you have an Internet connection
